Consulting Enterprise Architect

Consulting Senior Enterprise Architect within the Technology Strategy & Planning area of Lincoln Financial Group’s Enterprise Architecture organization, fulfilled responsibilities for advising and guiding technology strategy and supporting the delivery of common technology components to enable adoption of shared reuse and strategic technology capabilities.  Provided oversight, guidance and advice on a number of project teams, guided the evaluation of the Global IQX products, technology and company, and represented Lincoln Financial Group as an active member of the ACORD SOA-EBIG interest group on the application of SOA technology and processes within the Employee Benefits industry.  Consulting Senior Architect within Lincoln Financial Group's Lincoln Employer Markets business unit, advising and guiding technology strategy and application buy/leverage/build activities for business-driven project initiatives.  Delivered clear and actionable architecture guidance and advice, supporting delivery of high-value technology applications that represent significant bottom-line value for Lincoln Financial Group.

Lead Architect  - Information Security

For major financial services provider served as lead security architect on mission-critical insurance point-of-sale transaction system SOA project.  Application serves internal and external insurance/financial agent, call-center personal and consumer end users.  Devised, architected and implemented a Kerberos Single Sign-On solution that integrated IBM WebSphere J2EE application server with Microsoft Windows Active Directory. IBM nominated this architecture for Invention Innovation Award.   Solution leveraged industry standards, worked with the existing administration and identity management processes, yielding significant savings in password administration and improved user experience.

Lead Architect  - Content Management/Delivery

For a major financial services provider served as lead architect on Online Help Content system for J2EE mission-critical insurance point-of-sale transaction system SOA project.  Further participated on inter-departmental architecture effort to define enterprise approaches for this problem space.  Successfully implemented solution addressing requirements as stated.

Lead Architect  - Application Architecture

For a major insurance provider to the retail consumer insurance market, served as architect on multi-year project to implement complete customer servicing via internet.   Project was completed on-schedule and met all significant stated business requirements.  Analyzed business and functional requirements, defined overall and detailed architecture in collaboration with principal software vendors.   Representative contribution involved proposing, specifying, designing and prototyping re-architecture of web-to-legacy interface tier resulting in over 200% performance improvement.  Designed and implemented inter-Company Web Service integration for internet aggregator.

Lead Architect  - Instructor and Development Team Mentor

For a major insurance provider to the retail consumer insurance market, provided technical leadership and direction for development organization charged with delivery of mission critical distributed object-based systems supporting agency and claims customer contact centers. At initial engagement, statement of work was short term architecture and design of component based object framework. Over the course of the project and extending into a fourfold extension of the engagement duration, role grew to include overall architect and design of three different applications, leveraging the foundations created in each project into the next.   Perform as designer, lead architect, mentor and senior developer concurrently.

Lead Architect

For a major national bank, provided definition, design, and architecture from inception through deployment for object oriented framework for call center support system. Worked as lead architect on small core team of senior architecture developers and was responsible for key architecture infrastructure design and coding. Also served as mentor to development team in overall object oriented analysis and design techniques and the specifics of employing the locally designed architecture in application development. Liaison was required with senior management to ensure suitable architecture to meet current and future business scenarios.

Senior Developer  - Mentor

For major international telecommunications utility, served as senior developer on team charged with development of object-oriented customer service call center support application. Participated in development, and onsite deployment support. My responsibilities included use case development, iterative lifecycle review with end-user representatives, and development.

Project Manager  - Deployment Planning

For major international telecommunications utility, served as project manager for rollout of object oriented system. This engagement required my service as a project planner, facilities planner and coordinator for 23 deployment sites, and hardware and software configuration, planning, and specification. Also included full responsibility for vendor liaison (specifications, pricing, ordering, delivery coordination, installation coordination and system readiness evaluation). Moved on to lead development role for this same client after this assignment was completed.

Senior Consultant  - Sales Support

For leading minicomputer manufacturer, in-house senior consultant responsible for sales support for hardware, software and overall technology application for OLTP sales. This engagement required in-depth knowledge of all aspects of vendor's OLTP product line, both hardware and software. Position involved ad hoc development of innovative solutions to complex customer business requirements.  High visibility, self-contained and prepared to travel to customer site and make operational whatever the sales force had specified to the customer.  Called upon to rapidly prepare and deliver comprehensive and customer-targeted technical and business solution presentations to senior technical and managerial customer personnel, often concurrently with working to implement the solution being presented.

Assistant Vice President  - Telecommunications Strategy

For major international bank, responsible for all aspects of strategic planning both technical and budgetary for several areas of telecommunications including secure networking, Federal Reserve interfaces, and lock box support networking, letter of credit systems, etc. Interpreted consolidated telecommunications requirements from business units and integrated these into tactical plans to address them within functional and budgetary constraints. Through technology assessment and coordination with other areas of the enterprise, devised strategic technological approaches to meet ongoing telecommunications needs on eighteen-month and three-year planning lifecycles. Remained hands-on, with activities including writing code, performing technology evaluations and prototyping projects concurrently with the planning roles.  Manager of a team of developers and other professionals.
